Usually the .ini file is specific to the Simpack major and feature release and located in the user-specific configuration directory, which is %APPDATA%\SIMPACK\simpack-<xxxxxx>.ini on Windows and $HOME/.config/SIMPACK/simpack-<xxxxxx>.ini on Linux. Note that <xxxxxx> must be replaced by the six digit Simpack release number; for example, 202100 for release 2021 and all related maintenance releases. The x releases use a 1 instead of a 0 for the sixth digit; for example, 2020x has the release number202001.This .ini file is written by Simpack when the user explicitly changes a setting and also when the user interface is closed. The .ini file contents are not officially documented and may change between different major and feature releases. The file should not be edited by the user.Maintenance releases (with a third digit in the release number) do not have their own .ini files, they use the according major and feature release .ini file. The .xml files located in the user specific configuration directory contain settings which Simpack automatically updates. You should not modify or remove these .xml files.Note also that when a new Simpack major and feature release is started for the first time then Simpack searches for the .ini files of the highest feature release that has been used by the user. If such an .ini file is found then the contents that are still applicable are used to create the new .ini file. This mechanism ensures that settings from earlier Simpack releases are automatically adopted and do not have to be specified again.
